Donors Needed
WE NEED YOUR HELP - Give a Special Gift of Life this winter at Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital Blood Donor Center .
Everyday in our hospitals blood is needed to help save patients lives. Accident victims, our patients undergoing surgery, and patients receiving treatment for leukemia, cancer, or other diseases, such as sickle cell disease and thalassemia, all utilize blood.
Here is some information you can distribute to potential blood platelet donors. Thank you so much for your help with this - every donor recruited makes a difference in a patients life.
To help ensure that these vital resources are available when needed by our patients, please encourage all healthy, eligible individuals to give the gift of life by becoming volunteer platelet and/or plasma blood donor. Volunteer yourself and also encourage your colleagues, family and friends to donate. Such support is crucial especially now during the winter when fewer people donate because of vacation time, the cold and snowy weather, cold and flu season, and children out of school.
We have donor centers at Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver and Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette , Colorado and the blood products donated are used for patients at all three of Exempla's hospitals, Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver, Lutheran Medical Center in Wheatridge and Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette , Colorado. The donation process is simple and we have convenient early morning, late afternoon and Saturday appointments.
To be eligible to donate, a person must be in good health and be at least 18 years of age (or 17 with parental consent). Donors must weigh at least 110 pounds. There is no upper age limit. All donors must pass the physical and health history examinations given prior to donation.
